The Loft Violin Shop’s Trade-in and Trade-up policy allows musicians a flexible, affordable way to exchange instruments as their musical needs change.
Whether it is changing sizes or stepping up to a better instrument, “Trade-in/Trade-up” keeps the musician in the instrument best suited for them. Your full equity in an instrument or bow purchased from our shop can be put towards purchasing a new one, given that it is in good condition.*
*The trade-in value of a bow is decreased by the cost of a rehair. Carbon fiber bows are not included in the trade-in/ trade-up policy. Damage will impact an instrument or bow’s trade-in value.
Here’s how it works:
The Trade-in and Trade-up policy applies only to the original purchaser. It is not transferable nor assumable by a third party.
Trade-in and Trade-up assumes the instrument or bow is in fine working condition. The Loft Violin Shop reserves the right to assess maintenance and damage costs, adjusting the percentage of allowable Trade-in/Trade-up accordingly.
Customers may use the Trade-in and Trade-up policy for any similar (e.g. violin - violin; cello - cello) instrument or bow. There are no limits on how much (or how little) the equity difference. No cash refund is given should the customer choose an instrument or bow that is less than their equity. However all of their equity will carry over for their next Trade-in and Trade-up.
Due to a number of factors, including constantly changing technology, carbon fiber bows are not included in our Trade-in and Trade-up policy.
Trade-in and Trade-up may not be applied toward the purchase of strings or other accessories. Cases and other consumable items are not considered part of the Trade-in/Trade-up policy.
Certain sales are exempt from the Trade-in and Trade-up policy such as carbon fiber bows, electronic instruments, special as-is sales or sales to schools and organizations.
The Trade-in and Trade-up policy does not make any provisions for nor imply that The Loft Violin Shop will re-purchase an instrument or bow.
