This violin is an excellent and well preserved example of the modern German makers of the Ernst Heinrich Roth shop in Markneukirchen. This violin is complete with the Roth brand on the inside and the very rare ivory shield on the back.
The “Meinel” has a very fine grained spruce top with a nicely flamed, fine-grained one- piece back. The finish is an excellent example of the artistic antiquing that made the Roth shop famous. This specific violin was pictured and featured in Strad Magazine as one of the fine examples of the work from the Markneukirchen school.
